Service
Release focuses on the physical deployment of a
service as well as defining the runtime attributes of
the newly released service. From a deployment
perspective, the process focuses on traditional
configuration management issues as well as defining
the a precise release unit.

Once
a unit is released, the logical policies must be
created and deployed. This typically includes
identifying runtime SLA's, security policies, etc. It
is at this point where common mediations or service
virtualizations are designed and deployed.
Services
will be deployed into various environments including
development, staging and production. This same basic
process holds true for each environment.
Lastly,
each time a service is moved into a new environment,
the service must be re-tested to verify that the
actual release process didn't break the service
itself. Once a service has been verified full
documentation of the service is performed. Metadata,
policies and usage information is published to a
service registry / repository.
